I think it’s been more than a year since I last visited Tony Roma’s. Thanks to Sophea’s birthday I had the chance to revisit the restaurant at Sunway Pyramid again.

The price as we know, is higher than average restaurants out there. Like my friend said to me in Cantonese, “Tony Roma means 汤你老妈 (literally means killing your mother)”.

But of course, you pay for what you get. The food is scrumptiously delicious.

Chicken Tenderloin Platter (RM28.90) served with French fries, coleslaw and honey mustard.

The Chicken Tenderloin is crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. It’s aromatic and full of flavours, a must-try dish.

Grill Codfish (RM39.90) served with tomato pesto salad, broccolis and rice.

Grill Codfish, sweet, tangy and fresh. The thing with seafood is, as long as it is fresh, it will taste good no matter how you do it.

Grill Shrimps and ribs (RM49.90) served with tomato pesto salad, French fries and honey mustard.

However, we didn’t get the same freshness for the shrimps. And the ribs that came together weren’t that tender as well.

But hold your thought, the next dish is going to make it up to everything else.

Ribs and Steak (RM55.90) served with broccolis and baked potato.

The signature world famous barbecue beef ribs and steak are absolutely fantastic! The juicy, tender and sweet beef will just melt once you put the meat into your mouth.

Munching on those delicious beef brings you the satisfaction no words can really describe. If I ever come back again, this will be the reason.

The ribs and steaks are not complete without their signature sauces.

Mary explaining the different signature sauces to us.

They are so proud of their signature sauces they even had to explain to us the taste of different sauces they have (Original, Carolina Honeys, Blue Ridge Smokies and Tony Roma’s Red Hots).

They have some really good ribs and steaks there. If they claim themselves to be the rib experts, I definitely concur.

I celebrated my 27th birthday with a bunch of friends at Hard Rock Cafe, Kuala Lumpur.

Hard Rock Cafe is an American rock n’ roll themed restaurant located at Wisma Concorde, Jalan Sultan Ismail.

The food was great, and not forgetting to mention that their service was awesome. The waiters and waitress were very attentive, patient and always having a smile on their faces.

First appetiser, the Hard Rock Cafe Nachos (RM33). It was simply the best, I think it’s much more nicer than nachos from Chili’s.

Gotta love the cheesy nachos dipped with the sour sauce. But better finish the nachos before the cheese gets cold and turns hard.

Hard Rock Cafe Nachos.

The second appetiser, the Jumbo Combo (RM48). It’s a platter of fried stuffs with some sauce. Nothing so spectacular other than the spicy chicken wings.

I heard the potato skins were good (hidden behind the spring rolls) but eventually it tasted just like, potato skins.

Jumbo Combo.

Next, the signature 10 oz beef burger (RM42). What’s so special about this burger is, not only it is big, but also they let you choose how you would like your burger to be done.

It’s a very big burger, I think it’s enough to be shared among 3 persons, if you order other food as well.

10 Oz Burger and Chicken Caesar Salad.

On the slightly more healthy side, we had the Chicken Caeser Salad (RM25). Big portion as well and tasted just nice.

Didn’t try out how the Hawaii Chicken (RM30) tasted like. But I’m sure it tastes just like chicken.

Hawaii Chicken and Twisted Macaroni.

The Twisted Macaroni (RM32) tastes very good. Still, too much for one person to finish it.

Happy hour is from 6PM to 9PM where you can get two alcoholic beverages for the price of one.

There’ll be a live band performance at 11PM, though it only last for around an hour.

Rock band performing.

Good food, good service and good environment. Definitely a good choice for gatherings if you are willing to pay slightly more.

Be ready to expect a large crowd during weekends and do book in advance if you do not want to be disappointed.

Ted, Sophea and I went for dinner at Pasta Zanmai, Mid Valley after a photography session at Thean Hou Temple.

Pasta Zanmai’s menu cover and green tea.

They have a special promotion for Chinese New Year — the Chinese New Year Prosperity Course Menu. It comes with 5 dishes and costs RM99 for 3–4 pax. It was just nice for 3 of us.

Pasta Zanmai Chinese New Year Prosperity Course Menu.

I didn’t like Yee Sang much before this because none of the Yee Sang I had tastes anywhere near good. They were either too sour or the Salmon Sashimi was so thin it dissolved once you finish mixing.

Yee Sang with thick Salmon Sashimi. Huat ah!!!

But Pasta Zanmai’s Yee Sang was so good that we finished the whole plate not long after it arrived.

The Salmon Sashimi was fresh and thick. The different ingredients topped with the special dressing made it the best Yee Sang I’ve ever had.

Grilled lamb leg with black pepper sauce and Hotate scallop pizza.

The medium done grilled lamb leg was fantastic. It was nicely grilled on the outside and half raw on the inside. Juicy, tender and fresh.

We requested to change the avocado pizza to hotate pizza which I ordered every time I visit Pasta Zanmai.

The hotate pizza never fail me. Scallop, mushroom, tomato sauce and mayonnaise make a perfect combination to give your taste buds a roller coaster ride.

Prawn and pumpkin pasta with cream sauce and fruit tart.

The pumpkin pasta tasted rather normal. I didn’t really like it. If I knew this earlier, I will probably try to request them to change it to another pasta instead.

Lastly, the fruit tart was okay okay only. Crispy pastry topped with lots of fruits and not-too-sweet-custard. But RM13 for this thing alone? Are you kidding me?

I know it might be too late to say this, but if you happen to read this before 28th February 2010, do go and give it a try.

4 more days until Chinese New Year celebration is over. I wish everyone a prosperous year ahead and Gong Xi Fa Chai! Huat ah!!!

I went for dinner at Kampachi Pavilion with my Bosses and colleagues the other day.

Kampachi is located on the 6th floor of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

The interior is spacious and comfortable.

Kampachi’s menu and wall decoration.

I must say that the food was really really nice.

Mix mushroom salad and fried salmon skin salad.

Beef udon and curry chicken rice.

Tempura udon set and unagi set.

Assorted sushi rolls.

I forgot to take a picture of the cawamushi. It was some really awesome cawamushi with its silky smooth texture and aromatic steam egg. A must try.

However, when it comes to dessert, you can safely skip the ice-creams because they taste just normal to me.

Green tea ice-creams and tempura ice-cream.

But one thing must try is the mochi. It was the nicest mochi I’ve ever ate.

The soft and warm mochi covered with a thick layer of peanuts will turn this face –_– into this face O_O once you had your first bite. Seriously.

Mochi and Mango.

Lastly, if you are not living in some far far away land where mango is traded as gold, you should definitely skip this RM15 RM16 dessert.

Overall, food quality is great and the price is above average. It would be one of my top choices when I crave for some nice Japanese food.

Bidor has Kai Chai Peng, Seremban has Siew Pao and Ipoh has Pomelo.

When it comes to my hometown Taiping, it must be Heo Pia.

The name Heo Pia (Xiang Bing in Mandarin or Heong Peng in Cantonese) literally means “aromatic biscuit”.

It’s crispy on the outside with lots of sesame, and it has a layer of sticky and sweet caramel on the inside.

There are many famous Heo Pia in Taiping but I particularly like the one from Aulong (another small town in Taiping) because it’s not too sweet.

The owner made a garage beside the house to bake and sell biscuits.

Beside Heo Pia, there are all kinds of biscuits priced around RM2–RM3 per pack.

Once you go in, it’s very difficult to come out with empty hands because they are cheap and they look tasty.

That day when I wanted to bring my colleagues there, I couldn’t find the place and I tried Google but with no luck. I have to ask around before reaching the destination.

So I thought it’s good to write this post for others to find it easily.

The following Google Maps is just an approximate location because that road is not labeled in Google Maps. Find the exact address below.

The first night when we reached Johor Bahru, Ted brought us to a famous hawker stall for supper.

Ice kacang chocolate and fried char koay rojak.

The ikan bakar was really really nice. Fresh stingray fish with sour and spicy sauce. Really missed it.

MOS Burger is a Japanese fast food restaurant at Bugis Junction. The pork cheeseburger was so juicy and full of flavour it was the best pork burger I’ve ever had.

MOS Burger pork cheeseburger.

Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin is another Japanese restaurant located at ION Orchard.

The Katsu Don is so nice I just love it so much with its juicy, tender and sweet fried pork.

Popeyes Louisina Kitchen is a newly open fastfood restaurant at Sunway Pyramid.

It serves mainly fried chicken and seafood.

Below is what printed on the leaflet on the food tray above.

From the soulful jazz influence to the Louisiana culture comes a state filled with Southern American charm of wonders, mysteries and pleasures. It was here, in 1972, that a distinctive and delicious taste sensation was born. With its spicy and aromatic Louisiana inspired recipes, Popeyes Chicken and Seafood has since turned into a craze, sweeping across America and the world over. Today you can enjoy our mild or spicy Bonafide chicken and fresh succulent seafood, marinated and hand-battered to perfection, lovingly prepared for up 12 hours to deliver that distinctive Louisiana-style flavour. So sit back and enjoy the good ‘lo taste of Louisiana home cooking the only way Popeyes knows how.

I ordered the spicy fried chicken which I forgot the price.

I can’t help but to compare Popeyes with KFC. Personally, I think KFC still have the best fried chicken. But, Popeyes’ coslow and mashed potato are much more better than KFC’s.

Worth a try, but the old man still have the best chicken.

I promised to blog about Kamimura few weeks ago during a very busy Monday. And Joanne keeps reminding me she’s waiting to see the post, so here it is.

The restaurant is located at Menara Weld, Jalan Raja Chulan. I went there with Ted and Joanne. Ted already blogged about it.

Kamimura is a very cozy yet authentic Japanese restaurant. There were around 5 groups of customers that time and only 2 groups (including us) were locals.

What makes this restaurant special is not about the interior but the food. As I mentioned earlier, the food was heavenly out of this world.

Ted ordered the beef noodle. It was ultimately the nicest beef noodle I’ve ever tasted. The beef, the noodle and the soup were so good that I will salivate just by thinking about it.

Joanne and I both ordered the same Salmon Steak Set. It was so worth it for only RM36, you get a thick salmon steak, 4 slices of salmon sashimi, a bowl of rice, 2 side dishes and a miso soup.

The salmon steak together with the sweet gravy were very fresh, soft and tasty it simply melted when put in the mouth.

Such a nice restaurant. Definitely will go back for more.

Coffee lovers please take note. The best coffee in town is not Starbucks, Coffee Bean or OldTown.

It’s Espressamente illy, an Italian coffee bar located at Pavilion, KL.

Ted went there before and fall in love with their coffee and blogged about it not long ago.

So we decided to visit the coffee bar again on a Sunday afternoon for lunch.

Out of so many choices, I picked the Cappuccino Freddo Greco, iced cappuccino in short.

The taste was awesome. Most of the cappuccino I had have very strong milk taste but not this one.

Ted ordered the Caffelatte. Not only it looks beautiful but also tastes lovely with its special coconut milk.

It has a nice dining area with 3 sides of see-through glass walls.

We had our lunch there.

I had the Spaghetti Bolognese. Tastes not bad.

Joanne ordered the pasta.

And Ted ordered the chocolate cake.

The bill was RM100 for all the food mentioned above.

I think I have to go back again and again to try all the coffee they offer.

Nagomi is a Japanese shabu-shabu and sushi restaurant located at Menara Hap Seng, KL.

I went there with Ted and Joanne for shabu-shabu (steamboat) dinner on a Sunday night around 10PM.

The whole restaurant had only 2 tables occupied (including us). Very nice and quite.

For shabu-shabu, everyone will get a starter plate with vegetables, an egg and a bowl of Japanese rice.

There were 3 types of soup to choose from and I chose their signature Nagomi soup.

We ordered some meat — beef sirloin, ribeye and chicken.

The beef tasted so good! It was so fresh, tangy, juicy and tender.

The 3 types of dip sauce (sweet, spicy and salty) was so good as well they add different taste to the meat.

The meat and the dip sauce mixed so well together when put into the mouth the juice run through the tongue and soak up every single taste bud and immediately you feel like you are in the heaven.

Dramatic or not? Hahaha…

The bill was around RM100 for the three of us. Not bad right?

For beef lovers, it’s a must try.
